Leander Parks and Recreation and Dr. John’s Sports Center are partnering again to bring you the 3rd season of the Leander Youth Baseball Club (LYBC) and Leander Youth Flag Football League (LYFFL). Open to all area youth, the season begins the week of March 19th and runs until the end of May. The Leagues serves boys and girls between the ages of 4-11 by offering T-ball (ages 4-6), Coach Pitch (ages 6-8) and Flag Football (ages 5-11). This is a great opportunity for your child to have fun and learn sportsmanship, team work and develop sport skills that will lead to successful play.
The start of the season features an opening day celebration on March 31, 2012 with local vendors, a moon bounce and other family fun activities on Dr. John’s Sports Center’s outdoor fields. John Krampitz, PhD, founder and owner of Dr. John’s Sports Center says, “I am excited about the growth of the programs both in size and quality and the opportunity to continue working with Leander PARD.” Director of Parks, Steve Bosak said,” We are really excited about the 3rd season of the LYBC and the LYFFL. Dr. John’s is a breath of fresh air for the area’s younger athletes.”
In its 3rd year, the LYBC and LYFFL has been a very positive program for the greater Leander area. It brings the community together to celebrate sport, being active and it has help to build friendships.
Dr. John’s Sports Center is located at 1800 Clover Lane in Cedar Park, Texas. Dr. John’s motto “Where We all Play” emphasizes the value and benefit of actively participating in sport and games.
Taste and See Healthy Baby Food offers personalized cooking lessons for making nutritious homemade baby food for the first year of your little one’s life. Spend some time one-on-one or with a group of your mommy friends learning about each step of preparing your baby’s food. A lesson will start with choosing appropriate fruits and veggies, when to select organics, how to cook them to the right texture based on your baby’s age and ability, as well as how to introduce new flavors. You will also learn about proper storage and serving techniques. Each cooking lesson will focus on your baby’s needs, whether you are new or a more experienced baby gourmet chef, or a parent of an older infant seeking to expand your knowledge. During the in-home cooking lesson you will prepare about one month’s worth of purees and practice honing your baby food making powers. You will also discuss the variety of foods to serve your baby when it’s time to introduce grains, dairy and protein foods. The cooking demonstration includes a comprehensive guide you can keep and continually reference. After a Taste and See Healthy Baby Food lesson you will feel confident and motivated about providing the healthiest baby food made with your love.

YMCA of Austin Winter Youth Basketball League Registration Now Open

Registration for YMCA of Austin winter Youth Basketball leagues is now open and will run through December 4. Y Youth Basketball leagues are open to children ages 4-14.

YMCA sports help develop healthy kids, families, and communities by placing a priority on family involvement and healthy competition rather than rivalry. The Y emphasizes the value of participation over winning, while helping foster team-building, individual development, a positive self-image, and a sense of fair play and mutual respect. All skill levels are welcome, and every child has the opportunity to play. Financial assistance is also available for qualified applicants.

Kinder Hoops

The YMCA Kinder Hoops League is open for boys and girls ages 4-7. Divisions are determined by the player’s age entering into the season, and games will be played among teams within the same age division. Participants will have equal playing time throughout the game and will be given equal opportunities to start and end games throughout the season. Games are played on Saturdays. The season will start January 7 and run through February 25.

Youth Basketball

The YMCA Youth Basketball League is open for boys and girls ages 8-14 and will offer a greater level of competition than Kinder leagues. Teams will also offer a greater emphasis on rules and sport-specific skill development while still teaching YMCA Character Development values and fostering a spirit of good sportsmanship. Games are played Saturdays. The season will start January 7 and run through February 25.
